Welcome back to the Begin Fresh : 7 Days to Your Best Year Yet! :: Day 5


This is where you’ll explore ideas of how you’ll live out your why and then narrow in on what you can take action on this year. If you’re just joining us, you can start Day 1 here.

You’re not behind, because …

Today is always the best day to turn your dreams into plans!

Yesterday you stepped in closer to your everyday life and wrote your mission statement. You found your why, your motivation, the fuel for what you do.

Here is my mission statement from yesterday’s exercise :

To know God and love others by doing so as much as I can so they see how good God is and in business to use my creativity to help others live out their God given potential.

My principles and values for 2018 are

  • honesty
  • integrity
  • respect
  • creativity
  • adventure
  • learning

I believe that I am part of something bigger than myself, in leaving others better than I found them and that to be anything less than the best version of myself is a waste of the gifts I’ve been given.

Day 5 :: Vision

Today you’ll step in closer to your everyday life from your mission and think about how you want to use your skills + talents to impact your world.

Your mission is simply how you live out your why. It doesn’t have a deadline while your vision on the other hand, changes with the seasons of life.

The truly remarkable thing about your mission + vision is how they fuel you each day. I find them a source of encouragement + strength, especially on those challenging days, and to find more joy in what I do.

I’m using the Classic Planner for Begin Fresh with a splash of paint, washi tape and word stickers.

I’ll share my answers tomorrow along with the next exercise that explores what actions you need to take to get you to where you want to go and make those dreams a reality.

Today’s exercise

Think Big

One of my favourite inspirational and successful business mentors asks the question, “If you knew you couldn’t fail …” and we fill in the blank. I want you to have that question in mind as you write down how you want o live out your why today.

What idea’s come to mind that combine your passions with your skills?

#tip : Your vision most likely will take more than a year to achieve and combine both your personal and business life.

The One Thing

This is where you get specific and break down your tank Big dream into something you can take action on.

What one thing can you focus on this year to move you closer to making your Think Big dreams a reality.

#tip : Is there something you can do that would impact both your personal and business, moving them forward toward your goal?

You may have one thing for your personal life and another for your business.

Your one thing may not take a whole year to complete. Awesome! Come back here once you’ve completed it to decide on the next step you’ll take toward your think big dream.

If you’re stuck, think about what pushes your buttons. What gets you annoyed or frustrated? By looking at the opposite of these things you’ll discover what you value most. it may be friendships, justice, boldness … you get the picture.

Pick three principles + values that will guide your actions this year.

Beliefs :: why we can live this way

What you believe has an enormous impact on the action you take or more importantly what you don’t do. You can have goals that you desperately desire to make happen but for whatever reason you just never seem to be able to make progress on them. The reason may be that you have a personal belief that is overriding your best efforts.

For me the decisions I make are founded in what I believe about God, others and myself.

The one simple activity that I do daily to help me uncover any negative beliefs, celebrate my wins and stay focused on the journey ahead is gratitude journalling. I’ll talk more about that in an upcoming article. If you want a journal to start journalling each day, click on the button below.
